We’re everywhere

At lunch yesterday in Kansas City with a friend . . .

A friend of his stops by the table . . .

‘Oh, you work at Webster?’ . . . ‘Oh, the big one in Saint Louis!?’ . . .

I’m feeling a bit self-satisfied and quite happy that Webster has such a fine rep in Kansas City.

Minutes later, on 39th Street heading east from State Line, this bus pulls up beside me:

We’re everywhere!

By the numbers

Commencement 2012, by the numbers!

Senior follies

I attended tonight, for the first time in my four years at Webster, the senior follies night presented by Webster University Conservatory of Theatre Arts seniors.  In this year’s class are three of my current students, and another who studied with me previously.

I’ve been keenly aware of the impending departures, but I was moved tonight, quite unexpectedly, at the little ritual they all offered at the end, symbolically leaving the room one by one, and leaving part of them behind for the greater good of all who are yet to come.

Wednesday finds the last of the senior juries.  Friday is honors convocation.  And Saturday is Commencement.

Here are two shots from this evening, of my two musical theatre seniors:

Concerts

We had in April a total of 27 different departmental performances by ensembles, combos, and student soloists.

Here are shots from this weekend’s large ensemble concerts:

Re-elected

I’ve just received word that I’ve been re-elected to the university’s Undergraduate Curriculum Committee.  I’ve enjoyed the service this year and look forward to another term!
