Board meeting
I am home today after a three day trip to Chicago for the national board meeting of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. The annual full board meeting was illuminating and gratifying. And eye-opening as well. Today is filled with doctors appointments and errands before I return to Chicago for the first in-person international…

Choral concert
The first eight weeks of the school year always culminate in several ensemble concerts. I was at Variety rehearsal for the Wind Ensemble concert, and my camera was at home for the Orchestra concert, but I did snag some Choral Ensembles photos.

Composition events
Last weekend I reflected on how special a place Webster is, and the lens was that of a composition recital. But I’m struck by what a wonderful weekend we had for the whole music composition program. Witness — Wednesday night, senior songwriting major Annalyse Crowdus presented a senior recital that, according to a colleague, ‘knocked…

Music Education
Over the last few years, the Webster University Department of Music has developed a reputation and reality of a cutting-edge music education program. Music education majors sharpen their own musicianship through core coursework in music theory, music history, musicianship, and private lessons. Students also study core principles of educational theory and practice through coursework in Webster’s School of Education. The music…
